It's fine, you don't have to apologize about your word choice. :) Did Alison really say something disparaging about Head First? Funny I missed that. What did she say? When I said it was less glamorous than I imagined, I didn't mean living in the UK - this in itself is quite enjoyable. I meant the journalism course didn't turn out as glamorous as I imagined it to be. I had very high expectations for it and many of them have been shattered already. I just hope I won't regret the whole experience in the longer term.

I loved them for their singularity, for the efforts they were making to be dissimilar to everything.” I don’t know if you have got to Head First in your Goldfrapp exploration and I certainly wouldn’t like to prejudice you against the album. Give it an unbiased ear on your first listen and maybe you’ll discover what it is all about. I’d be happy if that happened. What exciting has happened in your life since we last talked? You have probably finished your university studies? Hugs and kisses!

And once you have learned that, the enjoyment of their music becomes a personal thing and you keep discovering new layers in what they have recorded. Some of those newly discovered meanings are probably just a product of your imagination, but what’s wrong with that? Goldfrapp is such a whimsical and unpredictable thing. I leafed through the dustier pages of your shoutbox to re-read the comments I’ve made on Goldfrapp’s first four albums. Well, I completely agree with what I had said then. ;) It is only sad that I’m unable to pen such an inspired outline of the fifth album which they have released since then. I’ve listened to it multiple times, each time with the intention to finally discover its charm, but in vain. When it stops playing, I just think, “Was that it? Nothing more to it? Well, that was simply uninspired. It didn’t sound like Goldfrapp, it sounded like any average electronic album. Why have Goldfrapp started to conform? They sound worn out.

Dear friend, It was such a delight to read your inspired and beautifully expressed thoughts! Indeed it has been a very long time since we last talked and this is a shame. But it seems we both matured and grew up emotionally in this two and a half years, which, I believe, is the most important task for people in their twenties. You are right that my situation has changed. I left my job and moved to the UK to study journalism. It is a one-year postgraduate course and it’s halfway through already. It hasn’t been an entirely happy experience as it turned out more difficult and less glamorous than I imagined. Still, it has contributed a lot to my maturation. It is true that Goldfrapp are not a typical love-at-first-listen band. They have their own vocabulary, their very peculiar approach to making music. It takes some time to get accustomed to their manner and to get into their groove, and one has to be curious and open-minded enough to learn to appreciate Goldfrapp.

Yeah, it's a great album easily one of the best pop albums at the time. And one of my favorites of all time. :3

Lol, interesting. Sometimes I feel like everything could be the same everywhere. Human nature I suppose.
