I have compiled a list of all the Last.FM artists with over a million plays as at 6 January 2012. You can view the full list by clicking on the hyperlink at the following website:

All artists with over 1,000,000 plays

Including some mistagged artists, there are 7,564 artists on the list in total. The "2011 Rank" refers to an equivalent list that I did this time last year, and so any artists that had under a million plays a year ago are labelled as "New". On the full version of the list, I have italicised the names relating to mistagged artists.

In a couple of posts on Last.FM forums I've promised a top 967 or 1,000 in this journal, but since making these rash promises I've decided to add hyperlinks to my list and Last.FM doesn't quite seem able to cope with 1,000 of these in the same journal, so here's a list of the top 940 artists by playcount (in a slightly messy format):
