best EPs

give me a few days to finish this because I'm DEF gonna forget some good ones

1. Saosin - Translating the Name
the fact that I have zero interest in post-anthony green saosin really speaks to the strength of this ep. how can he make a five song ep have more emotional strength than most full length albums?

2. Thursday - Five Stories Falling EP
this is the ep with Jet Black New Year on it, a really powerful amazing song. what really gets me, though, is the live performances of some of their best songs. Autobiography of a Nation is the perfect song to open and always gives me chills.

3. Boys Night Out - Broken Bones and Bloody Kisses
this album is so fucking good, I place it over Make Yourself Sick. that's a pretty big deal, because Make Yourself Sick is like, a 10/10 album in my books. wtf does that make this ep? I don't know.

4. Glassjaw - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
I'm a derp for not adding this sooner. this is an unbelievable ep and, even though I'm gonna get a lot of heat for this, I gotta say it's better than anything of the demos they've put out the past few years which, no matter how many times I listen to them, continue to remind me of the arabian nights style songs in aladdin.

5. Death From Above 1979 - Heads Up
when this came out I had no idea what the fuck I was hearing, that's how original it was. all that noise with just drums, a bass and a bunch of effects pedals. and for once, a musician wasn't using the effects pedals to mask his inability to play the instrument. phenomenal.

6. Glassjaw - Worship and Tribute Pre-Production Demo
not sure if this counts as an ep, but it's too amazing to leave out. this collection of six songs has probably my second favourite glassjaw track on it, Midwestern Stylings, and it's a shame more people arn't aware of this demo

7. Minus the Bear - Bands Like It When You Yell "Yar!" At Them
more raw than their later work, and I love the stupid song titles.

8. Bright Eyes - Every Day and Every Night
conor oberst at his best. I can just picture him writing these songs, and it's a depressing, frightening image. made for some of his most powerful stuff, though.

9. Hopesfall - No Wings to Speak Of
I'm not sure how many people still listen to hopesfall, but when they followed this with the satellite years, I remember thinking that this was one of those bands doing their brand of music better than almost anyone.
