I would say ABR is getting more progressive and creative to an extent. They are becoming less breakdown and intense riffing focused and I would say writing better songs overall. Their newest album is good, but I personally love Constellations the most. As For metalcore as a whole, I wouldn't say it's dying, but maturing. Metalcore as we know it has only been around for about 15 years (the genre technically started somewhere in the 80's.), and the bands that did well in it's infancy are still doing well today. It's still a huge genre, but I think the attention it was getting from critics has shifted to Deathcore.

Yeah nobody in chrisitan metalcore can top the success As I Lay Dying's had. August Burns Red is pretty close to them though. Demon Hunter sells pretty well though and has a pretty wide fanbase. Underoath is close to there too, although they use to be a lot higher back in the day.

I know Ryan Clark from Demon Hunter does a lot of bands cover art, but he doesn't own the record label. Brandon Ebel is the name of the owner I believe.

I imagine some labels treat their bands much better than others, but labels in general do take too much of the money. BoO is doing good, but their last album also sold very well. I would imagine they are probably middle upper tier financially. The cribs video was pretty funny though. Oh, Sleepers new album is the first that really got them a load of attention so they might be on the up and up, but we'll see. Solid State appears to be a pretty good label, August Burns Red and Demon hunter are doing pretty well for themselves.

Outside of the fact that they promote the bands (to which extent I think may be debatable) I'm not really sure what the hell it is Labels do for bands. Although being on a certain label probably makes it easier to tour with bigger bands. I'm not really sure of a real solution other than to get people to actually buy stuff straight from the bands instead of stores or online since the bands themselves see very little of that money. I read a comment somewhere that someone thought that bands should get together and form their own labels so that a bunch of bands are sharing the wealth instead of the 'management' getting the majority of the money. But I'm not sure that'll happen ever.
