The Common Linnets have a good song of fine quality. It's pleasant but I wonder how well it will do on the night? It's something that really should be played live. Pretending to play their instruments surely will take something away from the performance for a lot of people. I hope they do well but I doubt that they'll be able to taste the same success as Anouk. I find Molly's entry just a tad overhyped but I should focus less on that and be happy for the momentum behind her as she seems a lovely girl. There are about 14 songs I like more but it is a very strong year. I'd love to see a "real piece of art" (as you've put it) win the contest. Patricia Kaas would have been a perfect winner but was severely underrated. Sertab is the last winner who's song I adored and that was over 10 years ago. I'm afraid i'm not keen on Spains entry, I find it to be too much of a vocal showcase. I really like Sanna though. I think it will be Sweden, Norway or Austria as a surprise winner.

Oh I loved Nina Zilli but I was so, SO disappointed when she discarded "Per Sempre". It was such a sophisticated song. It would have been one of my favourite entries ever. The jazz version of "Suus" is stunning. The opening chords to that song are so poignant to me. In essence I think "Suus" was an experimental jazz song with a neoclassical arrangement. I LOVE that version of Aurela's "Feel The Passion" you mentioned. She was really robbed and should have reached the final. I certainly felt her passion. I love all the live jazz versions of Valentina's previous entries. "Social Network Song" is particularly fun as a jazz swing song. Speaking of Valentina, i'm ecstatic as today ESCUNITED passed on my words to Valentina in an interview they did with her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqhtZc6df8c My message comes in around 8:00 and Valentina is practically moved to tears. It's really made my year. She's so humble and a beautiful person. She embodies everything I love about the contest.

Melanie Martinez is leuk ja!

Zoals Cascada vorig jaar bijv

I suppose the contest has had some quite soulful entries in the past but it's more the artist's voices that have been soulful. I personally love jazz and folk music. The latter seems to be quite well represented this year but there is hardly ever any jazz in the contest. Noora Noor was indeed great. I wanted "Gone With The Wind" to win. Beverley Knight would be an awesome choice and doesn't seem too impossible a wish. I like Molly and my country finally seems to be getting the right idea, kind of like your country finally got it right last year with Anouk (she was amazing!!) and this year again, the Common Linnets have a really fine entry. I'm not sure how well Molly will do though. I'd really love for my country to one day have a "Suus"/"Birds" moment. To send something achingly beautiful, melancholy and unique. "Children of the Universe" still feels like it was especially made for the contest and a little bit cliche. It's very nice though. Oh and Saint Lu was brilliant. My favourite!

I see you are a great fan of soul music as well. I don't know too much about the genre but I respect it very much. Hopefully one day we'll have some proper soul at Eurovision. I can't believe Norway passed up the chance of having Noora Noor represent them a few years back. Her song was sensational and it didn't even pass to the final!! I would love it if Beverley Knight would represent my country one day. She's brilliant. "Music City Soul" is a beautiful record :-)

I'd like to go one day too but Eurovision in Concert must have been a treat. That's one of the most exciting times of the year where we get to hear a good bunch of the songs live for the first time, plus all the interviews! Unfortunately I really like Russia this year (my 2nd favourite). It's a bit of a guilty pleasure. I like Iceland too. Semi Final 1 does look great. Three years in a row now i'm unable to vote for Valentina! I really hope she makes it this year. She has such sincerity. Because the quality of the songs this year is so solid, it's going to be difficult. I hope Cristina makes it as well. At first I wasn't too keen on her song and her accent was a bit too strong even for my tastes (I love accents) but her song has really grown on me and she seemed so lovely in the interviews. I basically love San Marino, Russia, Macedonia, Latvia, Norway, Austria, Georgia, Lithuania, Sweden, Iceland, Germany, Albania, Azerbaijan, Malta. Plus more I enjoy like The Netherlands & Moldova.

Hey Jeffreeh! Thank you very much for the friend request. I've seen you around this site a lot, posting on the Eurovision artists pages, so it was nice to receive your request. Not long to go now until it starts. I'm really excited for this year, I enjoy over half of the songs. I fear i'm going to lose many of my favourites before the final though.

Luckily I don't remember that much from the 2012 NF, so I had to remind myself of some of these songs. And actually I had no idea that 3JS were popular at all in the Netherlands, for some reason I didn't think they were that well known. Anouk seriously was amazing though, she should be sent every year. xD Although I don't like the Dutch song that much this year, too country for me I guess. I'm not sure how that will do in the contest. :s Molly should do well, but there is no pressure. For the UK, anything on the first half of the scoreboard will be considered a victory for us, haha. Lots of people acting like we come last every year, it's almost like everyone's forgotten how well Jade did even though it really wasn't that long ago xD

Yeah, I saw the video where Aram got booed in the concert. According to WiwiBloggs Conchita accepted Aram's apology but I dunno. And I think Armenia has lowered their score for sure with this, but according to the bookies Armenia are the favourite to win? What the? And Russia's song this year really is awful. I was told that Russia were going to have a national final with many established Russian artists, but because of the situation in Ukraine basically destroying any last chance of Russia winning ESC, the whole thing was scrapped and the sisters were sent with a song written in one day. And about the laws, didn't the EBU say that Russia wouldn't be allowed to host if they won in the future because of the anti-LGBT laws? I seem to remember them saying something like that.

I like Latvia this year, I think it's funny and cute, but not ridiculous, as others say! But of course, there a lot of better songs than that, I can't put it higher than 25th in my top..My favorite songs this year, except for Armenia, are: Norway, Italy, Montenegro, France, Spain and Malta! :) I don't like the UK :( maybe, I'm the only one..I don't like the song and her voice! I think her voice is annoying! :P

So lucky having ESC in concert so close by every year. And you met some of them as well, wow :o Yes, Aliona was amazing too, and Conchita will do very well I'm sure. Very disappointed to hear about the Armenian entrants' rude remarks though :s And don't remind me about the 2012 Dutch NF, lol. That was pretty awful, even by my standards. I thought Chocolatte was good though (but do you remember that awful song that was about twitter or something OMG NO), but I really enjoyed the one in 2011 :D I still love 3JS to this day, too bad they came last xD And I loved Sieneke too, although I'm not sure how many people would agree with me. Anouk has definitely been your best in recent years though. Molly probably will do well, the UK media is very negative though, especially because she is an unknown. Well, she will prove them wrong in the final I hope ^^

Wow, you were at Eurovision in Concert? That's so cool! Good to hear the crowd liked Molly. I think Conchita's is really good too, sounds like a Bond theme. 'I Pray' was also amazing last year, but I like Wild Soul a lot more. As for the NF, I kind of wish we would get our national final back, but all our NFs that I've ever seen have been absolute disasters imo. And I don't think any established artists would enter it. It's sad, Eurovision has a weird stigma here so no famous British artists want to touch it. :(

Nice!

Hey, thanks for accepting! Good to see people like the UK entry, I also think it is very good this year. I hope Molly does well in May. My absolute favourite has to be Moldova though. That or Lithuania :)

Kim-Lian just didn't sound like an artist that 'd be interested in but thanks for the Dutch pop singer recommendation. Know of any other talented female Dutch pop artist's that you'd think I'd like? K3's song "what I want" I read was one of the few songs that was geared towards an older listening audience before they quickly starting going for a much younger audience. I love that song! (wat ik wil) What was one of your early favorite K3 tunes? (to sing along to) Yep Sita hasn't released anything since 2004 but I just got into her music last year. Love her voice! I'm familiar with the EuroVision contest a little and others like it from other counties but I never watch any of them or keep up with any artists. Some of the artists that I discovered and enjoy listening to came or became popular from one of those kind of contests though.

I recently been enjoying K3's first album Parels which I think just sounds amazing! None of their other albums sound like their debut! But my favorite K3 album is Oya lele from 2003. K3's music can get a bit "cheesy" sometimes on the "pre-teen's" targeted audience but I found that "all" of their albums have a good amount of excellent songs so I can bare it. The three women in K3 have amazing voices and I love how they all sing together at the same time. The album titled track from their album Parels is one of their best songs for sure! I couldn't find that song by Kim-Lian but I heard a few other songs by her and didn't like her. Too average but her music sounds like Hilary Duff a bit.

Cool a netherlands music lover! I'm trying to get some cd's from the Netherlands right now and there are a few favorite artists that I love that are very popular in the netherlands. Have you ever listened to any K3? Or Sita? Nice profile and I like what you say here "where do we go now, to the sky?" Cool words and avatar, accepted!

Hersiana is her real name. I don't know why a lot of people are calling her Herciana. Hersi is her nickname - so I think she'll use 'Hersi' for Eurovision. It's a cute nickname.

Hey, thanks, yours too. Yeah the Toni & Babyface album is a pretty strong collection. The stand outs for me are Rollercoaster, Hurt You and The D Word. Are you enjoying it?
