1. How did you get into 29?
tattle tale! oh goodness, i don't even know. through bonfire madigan, surely. or was it…possibly it was just because they were a kill rock stars band, and i loved kill rock stars in the 90s. i was pretty angry when "but i'm a cheerleader" came out and, instead of going "oh, this song is lovely, WHAT ELSE HAS THIS BAND DONE?" a million teenagers just started saying "lol, i heard that song glass vase cello case and now i'm really into tattle tale! um, but i haven't heard any of their other songs". trust me, all their other songs are even better. listen to little silver hands, sister blue, "THE CURSE OF SUPERMAN" (fuck yeah, i loved that song and now it's probably lost forever and i am so sad!), a girl's toolbox, etc. and then bonfire madigan. because madigan is wonderful. you go ahead now, i can wait.

2. What was the first song ever you heard about 22?
bruce springsteen <3 oh dear, it was probably born in the usa in 1986? i clearly recall being at the bus station and hearing this song. in recent memory, however, probably for you or rosalita, because my old roommate used to play those nonstop. or "thunder road" in highschool or something.

3. What's your favourite lyric by 33?
lol, grandmaster flash and the furious five. i'm a bit frightened to say what it actually is, since it might land me on all sorts of government lists i'd just as soon avoid. you can probably infer from that.

4. What is your favourite album by 49?
le tigre. huh. i haven't really thought about it in a while. this is actually a difficult question! i think their first one is probably the best, objectively, but i was so so so excited for from the desk of…mr lady and rushed to the record shop after school to get it right away. and i remember really being into electro when feminist sweepstakes came out and all my friends and i played that to death. so any of those three. but i fucking hated this island. bits of it grew on me after a while, but in all, that one was just not for me.

5. How many albums by 13 do you own?
john k samson! slips & tangles and little pictures, those are his two proper ones. and i've got recordings of sets he did on the radio. plus all the weakerthans' albums. and he's on two of the propagandhi records, of course. i have quite a lot by mr john k!

6. What is your favourite song by 50?
neutral milk hotel. not hat you'd know it from my scrobblings, but it's song against sex.

7. Is there a song by 39 that makes you sad?
sam cooke. think on that one!

8. What is your favorite album by 15?
kathleen edwards. the only full one i've heard is asking for flowers. it's lovely.

9. What is your favorite song by 5?
sleater-kinney? holy frak, i don't know! it could be anything! but for brevity's sake i'll just call it was it a lie?.

10. Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy?
johnny cash. oh dear. several make me happy in a way that could probably only be called perverse. because he didn't write particularly happy songs. but he did write particularly good ones, and that makes me gleeful.

11. What is your favorite album by 40?
tracy chapman. i'm going to be gauche here and say collection. which is a greatest hits album, yes, but it's freaking electric.

12. What is your favorite song by 10?
dirty pretty things. dammmmmmmmn. it's either gin and milk OR any of several songs off romance at short notice, depending on my state of mind. generally it falls toward truth begins because it should be cheesy, it really really should! and yet it somehow manages to sidestep the cheesiness. i don't know how, but it does!

13. What is a good memory you have involving 30?
jenny lewis with the watson twins. oh man, this had such potential! unfortunately, i was listening to them at a pretty depressing time! but i'd have to say, it was probably when i got a leaked version of the album about a month and a half before it came out, immediately instant messaged my not-yet-ex-girlfriend and probably yelled something like "OMFG JENNY LEWIS MADE A RECORD DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS, IT'S AMAZING, LISTEN TO IT NOWWWWW" and then we spent the next month and a half screaming about how great it was or something.

14. What is your favorite song by 38?
the battle of land and sea. six days, i think. or i built the sea, that one's nice.

15. Is there a song by 19 that makes you happy?
amy winehouse? not really. maybe fuck me pumps, but she doesn't quite do happy.

16. How many times have you seen 25 live?
TOM WAITS, MOTHERLICKERS. dammit, never, but i hold onto the dream!

17. What is the first song you ever heard by 23?
dot allison. well, i first heard her sing on pete doherty's sheepskin tearaway and thought she was AMAZING, but the first song i heard by her as herself was EITHER the latitude and longitude of mystery OR tall flowers OR m'aidez call.

18. What is your favorite album by 11?
lol, propagandhi. another one it's really difficult to say because everything they do is gold. but probably less talk more rock because there is nothing on that record that is not 100% a++.

19. Who is a favorite member of 1?
peter doherty <3 can it be said that there are members of pete doherty? and if so, who are they? and also, could i have a favorite that wasn't him? and if so, would it be carl barat? no man can truly say.

20. Have you ever seen 14 live?
the jam. fuck no, and could you possibly twist the knife a bit deeper there?

21. What is a good memory involving 27?
yeti. don't really have any, as i just started listening to them this week.

22. What is your favorite song by 16?
the national. we need to quit it with this favorite song business, because it always ends up being someone i'm very indecisive on! right now, it's the cover they did with st vincent (why is she not on here? i listened to her nonstop last month! now i know these results must be skewed), "sleep all summer". but an actual song by them? oh dear, maybe all the wine or apartment story.

23. What is the first song you ever heard by 47?
janis joplin. piece of my heart on the radio, when i was fifteen. i could actually probably pinpoint the day, but i'm not that obsessive. holy frak, that was amazing. that song probably literally changed my life.

24. What is your favorite album by 18?
amy ray. oh dear, they're all amazing. can we pretend there is a three disc set called "amy ray"? that's what i'm gonna do.

25. What is your favorite song by 21?
patti smith. no freaking way, i cannot do this. there's just no way! oh well then, alright. it's kimberly. or boy cried wolf (the version on land, not the one on gung ho). actually…fuck. patti smith also changed my life, just by the way.
