Ivy's Top 20 for 2008!

1. Jason Mraz - I'm Yours
This is a no-doubter. I don't care that there was a demo way back, but this is still love & Three Little Birds makes it even better, especially live! This is the Song of 2008 for me, hands down.

2. David Archuleta - Crush
I have this weird love for this cheesy song. I don't know if it should be up this high but damn, it's damn cute.

3. Backstreet Boys - Inconsolable
Even though their Never Gone album was much better, there are still many good songs - and yes, both Inco… songs sound similiar, I've listened to this song more than the other, even if Incomplete was better.

4. Britney Spears - Amnesia
Out of the entire Circus album, I still manage to find a song to love that's not on the album. There are so many good songs on that album but I picked this one because its beat is amazing and the lyrics are hilarious and don't even really make sense.

5. Jason Mraz - If It Kills Me
Every time I hear this song, it figuratively kills me. The way he sounds as he sings the words, how the guy loves the girl but there's that risk he doesn't know if he could or should take. So many songs to choose from!

6. James Morrison - Nothing Ever Hurt Like You
Thanks to Jason Mraz's Details in the Fabric, I've discovered him. This song made him for me. I still need to relisten to his other stuff, but this song was it.

7. Coldplay - Viva la Vida
Despite its controversies, this song still has amazing lyrics, so I'm going to focus on that part. Like some people have said, this song is very history-lesson like. The entire song is around the idea this history lesson. My favourite line is the the quote line because I've always been amazed at the succession of the throne.

8. Britney Spears - Circus
The second single off the album and I love it more than Womanizer, especially since it's another song surrounding the paparazzi situation on Britney - even if it's not written by her.

9. Rihanna - Disturbia
For many, this is their 2008 Summer song. Whatever is with this song, it gets stuck in your head even if the lyrics are all mumbled and slurred along the way. Without the lyrics, I have no idea what she is saying. But an awesome dance song when everyone yells DISTURBIA!

10. Beyonce - If I Were a Boy
I've never heard of the Ciara - Boys song so I have no idea how similar they are, but this song is still… touching. I chose this over Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) since this is more meaningful to me personally.

11. Theory of a Deadman - All or Nothing
This is my Olympics 2008 song (aka Phelps/Lochte song). ♥

12. Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog - Freeze Ray / Brand New Day
I know this is an OST, and that I chose two songs, but they stand out the most out of the rest and NPH is too amazing, so the songs go out to him.

13. MGMT - Time to Pretend
I chose this over Electric Feel because of its melody and how it represents the shallowness of the music industry. But shit, I love Electric Feel too.

14. Coldplay - Lost!
I really don't get all the Coldplay hate that's out there, I know the album before weren't that good but this one made up for it. I was tempted to pick Life in Technicolor, but I wanted a song with lyrics, and I wasn't going to pick LiT II.

15. Kanye West - Love Lockdown
Fuck the audiocue but still the drum beats shake my core… you lose… you lose…

16. Britney Spears - If U Seek Amy
EFF YOU CEE KAY? There's no way you can't love this song once you got pass the first few of the awesome songs. The entire song's lyrics don't matter other than the one line in the song.

17. Leona Lewis - Better in Time
This song's message is much better than the dying heart. At least she's healing! But yes, this was better than Bleeding Love.

18. Phantom Planet - Raise the Dead
I don't know if anyone knew they have a new album. There are so many good songs on there like Quarantine, Dropped and Demon Daughters, but their title song still has that sweet chorus/melody. WE RAISE THE DEAD! Okay, I love the entire album.

19. Panic at the Disco - Nine in the Afternoon
I can't let a PaTD song escape a top-20 song, even if I didn't like the album as much as their debut album. They have a lot of songs that I like - Mad as Rabbits, for example. But NitA is still my favourite.

20. Enrique Iglesias - Can You Hear Me?
Ah Enrique, he's always my guilty pleasure, and somehow I knew most of the songs off his Greatest Hits. This song was Euro 2008, how random.

All the songs are based on albums released in 2008, even if the singles are out in 2008, they aren't on here. (Franz Ferdinand's Lucid Dream/Ulysses, or The Fray's You Found Me).
