Yes, and it is just now that I have found my music niche. I finally know what I want to hear - I haven't moved homes since, but I have acquired more homes in no one village.

Back in highschool, until my sophomore year, MTV was pretty much my music guide. Loving whatever has a music video and whatever is (over)played at a moment. Squealing to Backstreet Boys and Boyzone, and dancing to Spicegirls were the highlights.

Still in highschool, junior year this time, I first heard of jewel. It was a "How timely I am introduced to her poetry in music as I am studying art appreciation in my classes". And then my soon-to-be-music goddess, Cynthia Alexander, was raved upon by a friend. Looking at it now, she served as an inkling to my eventual attachment to indie.

College at a state university opened me to alternative, rock, and R&B. I felt more grown-up as I got oriented to alternative and rock classic of the like of Nirvana to Dave Matthews Band. Nelly, JA Rule, and such succeeded them.

Just like any other typically unwinding college student, it was really a different feeling to dump in a bin books and paperworks while dancing to Hed Kandi, Moony, and Bonnie Bailey with a beer on one hand.

Post-college, months after obtaining degree, I preferred no music. Any would suffice. Mediocre you could say…

I have to thank Jake for this, his mp3 samples of Damien Rice, Bright Eyes, Imogen Heap, Aqualung, Belle and Sebastian, My Morning Jacket, and Sondre Lerche instantly drawn then consequently attached me to this genre Indie Music. While searching for the lyrics of an indie song (which I can not remember, erk…), I stumbled upon last.fm. Like leaving the nest for my own food, my first catch were The Reindeer Section, Kings of Convenience, Architecture in Helsinki, and Iron & Wine.
From approximately no more than 4 GB of music scraps last year, I now have acquired 19.3 GB worth of music albums (which is actually not bad for a year-old repertoire).
Ergo, the niche (i.e. my music repertoire). Ergo, my homes (i.e. indie, jazz, bossa nova, classical, folk, world, progressive rock/metal, celtic)
