What can be said about attending at a concert with this music genius ?
It was a magical night, where Yanni and his partners (like Victor Espinola, a wizard at the harp, or Samvel Yervinyan, the Armenian violin wizard, and all the other musicians in his actual band) took me into a magical flight on the wings of music.
Maybe the full moon had something to do with it ? :) (Yanni actually did noticed this: that we have a full moon in the sky, and … playing the piano under the full moon is, for him, some sort of magic in itself ….).
There were about 8 plays from his most recent album, Truth of Touch, mixed with older plays (like Nightingale, or Acroyali, or Felitsa…. making a total of about 16-18 plays (I didn't got to count them in the end…).
A big surprise for me was the song Nightingale … I never have heard it with a human voice (a female voice actually) ! Yanni said about this song that it was composed especially for his concert at the Forbidden City, in Beijing. And the singer's voice made a very distinct Chinese touch (it was like listening to those Chinese instruments playing on stage !! – I do of course prefer the "clasic" version, the instrumental only version, but this one was still amazing – the singer took some very high notes … it was incredible, and she got some of the biggest applause ….)
In the end (not literally, since it wasn't made at the end of the concert) .. Yanni made the biggest surprise for all of us: he promised he'll be back with another concert, here in Romania !
