New O.A.R. Album - "King"
2011年 05月 24日 13:10
O.A.R. has announced they will release their new album King on August 2nd. While I haven't been into the band the past few years as much I was when I was younger, their new website has got me pretty excited with a video and notes from each of the band members describing different parts of their recording process. The track listing has yet to be released, but their are a few possible hints on the aforementioned website.
EDIT: The first single off King, titled Heaven, will be released on June 7th. -
New Phish Album - "Joy"
2009年 06月 28日 03:19
Phish announced this past week that they have recorded a new album, titled "Joy", and will be releasing it later this summer. Below is the track listing:
1. Twenty Years Later
2. Backwards Down The Number Line
3.
Stealing Time From The Faulty Plan
4. Light
5.
Joy
6. Sugar Shack
7. Ocelot
8. Kill Devil Falls
9. I Been Around
10.
Time Turns Elastic
With the exception of 'I Been Around', all tracks have been played at least once on their current summer tour. 'Time Turns Elastic' began as an orchestral side project of Trey Anastasio, but was released as a single by Phish in May. TTE doesn't always seem to 'fit' in most live show settings, and phan can appreciate how well constructed this piece is.
'Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan' is a personal favorite of mine, with 'Kill Devil Falls' a close second.
'Backwards Down the Number Line' made its first appearance during the band's comeback 3-night stand at Hampton this past March.
'Ocelot' is a great laid back tune, and 'Light' has epic jam potential. Without a doubt, Phish's first studio album since their breakup will impress. -

Summer never seems complete until seeing OAR @ The Lawn. Overall good show. Pretty solid setlist. The show started kinda slow and they seemed out of it until destination & untitled, when they started to pick it up. i was really impressed with this town. first time i heard it @ roo it wasn't that great, but they've definetely improved it live, and the crowd really dug it. Best version of Dareh Meyod I've ever seen live. whatever happened was awesome and is now my new favorite song off All sides -

Thu 12 Jun – Bonnaroo 2008
What a Blast!. My fourth year, and I have to say, my favorite one so far! not just the best music, but the most fun I've had too. My first year I really hit the late night sets hard (not getting back to camp until 5am friday and saturday night). I made an effort to get up towards the front for most of the sets, which was a plus. I'm still ticked off that Kanye cut into Phil Lesh, but I'll save that rant for another time. Here is everyone I saw (well, at least stayed for 1/2 their set)
Thursday, June 12th
Grupo Fantasma That Tent, 9-10. I've seen this band once before, and they were alright, but they def. brought it @ roo. They probably had the most energy of any band I saw the entire weekend. The only drawback was that they played for only an hour, because I could of dance to them all night long!
Dark Star Orchestra The Other Tent, 11:45-1:45. I had never seen DSO before, but I had heard good things about them. They totally blew me away, right from the opening line inNot Fade Away, "I'm gonna tell you how its gonna beeeeeeeeeeeeee!" what impressed me the most was how much the lead singer sounded Like Bob, even down to the way he enunciates.
Friday, June 13th
Drive-By Truckers, Which Stage, 12:30-1:45. I've never really gotten into much of their studio stuff, and their set wasn't anything too special. However, I do have to give credit to the lead singer for finishing a fifth of Jack onstage.
Umphrey's McGee, Which Stage, 2:15-3:45. I have wanted to see UM for a long time, and what better of a place to see them @ roo? Jake Cinniger is simply amazing on guitar. They lived up to and went past everything I've heard about their live shows. The end of their set was just awesome
Les Claypool, Which Stage, 4:15-5:45, I like to listen to Primus every once in a while, but I've never really gotten into Claypools solo stuff. Boy am I glad I stuck around for his set. During his set, he brought out a cello, vibraphone, and sax, while playing an electric bass, and standup 6 string electric bass, and even a one string bass. He created some of the most bizarre/unique sounds I heard the entire weekend, but i loved every minute of it, and I found myself dancing the entire time.
State Radio, The Other Tent, 5:45-7:15, Another band that I didn't know much about before. It was probably one of the best all around sets of the weekend, the tent wasn't too packed, every one in the crowd was into the show, and the band was great and had tons of energy.
Chris Rock, What Stage, 7:45-8:45, Overall, he was really funny. The only thing I would of hoped for was that he made more roo-specific jokes.
My Morning Jacket, Which Stage, 12-3
Tiesto, This Tent, 1:30-3:30
Saturday, June 14th
sharon jones & the dap kings
Little Feat
Jackie Greene
Levon Helm and Ramble on the Road
Phil Lesh and Friends
Chali 2na with Galactic as a backing band
Sunday, June 15th
Robert Randolph's Revival
O.A.R
Acoustic Set Featuring Phil Lesh, Larry Campbell, Jackie Greene, and Teresa Williams
Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi's Soul Stew Revival
Widespread Panic
and don't forget, Kanye West sucks!!!! -

overall a good show. OAR feed off the energy from the crowd, which was into it throughout most of the show. Untitled and King of the Thing were a great way to start the show, and So Moved On was a nice surprise. A great time as always!
