Wed 26 Oct – Bowling For Soup, Suburban Legends, Orange
So I almost didn't make it to this gig because I'm not very well at the moment, but I managed it… and boy am I glad I did!
Absolutely fantastic set - played everything I wanted to hear, with a few surprises thrown in. Some of my personal highlights were 1985, Almost, Girl All the Bad Guys Want, High School Never Ends, The Bitch Song, Ohio (Come Back to Texas), Punk Rock 101, Summer of '69, I'm Gay, Belgium (which was introduced as "a song about New Zealand", and featured the trumpet players from Suburban Legends), and a cover of Stacy's Mom (which, of course, is by Fountains of Wayne).
As is tradition with BFS, they had a break in the middle of a song (Punk Rock 101 this time) but this time - instead of being a "photo opportunity" - it was a "trip to the bar on stage". During which time Don't Stop Believin' by Journey was played - cue epic sing-a-long :P
But yes, an amazingly fun gig filled with stupid (but hilarious) gags and brilliantly catchy tunes. Bowling for Soup are definitely a must-see for anyone with a sense of fun.
