I’m currently listening to the new Spinnerette album on Spotify, molto bene! There’s not quite anything as good as The Hunger on there (yes, wince you Sing Sing Death House, The Distillers purists) and Ghetto Love may well be the best track which I’m sure we’ve all listened to a lot over the past months, but there doesn’t seem to be any filler on the record and it’s dingy tones make for a refreshing change from all this indie-electronic cack that gets pedalled around these parts far too often. Right, so this Friday the Nme Tour rolled into Manchester, fitting in nice and snuggly into Academy 1. The venue had a refurbishment over a year ago now, the only change, other than increased backstage and VIP areas, is that there seems to be about 500 more people crammed into the same facilities as there were previously. As per usual, it took an age to reach the bar but thankfully we all had that nice 45 minute interval with which to consume as much alcohol as possible; I am course referring to the Friendly Fires' set. Quite an easy choice in the end, has the most plays in my library in the past 12 months. Don't get me wrong, there was a lot of good stuff out there this year, but for me this was the only exceptional record. I don't know what's more exciting about this, that Alas I cannot Swim is a debut or that something of worth has actually arisen out of Eversley. It's almost where we live, right?
