#40

2. Have you ever listened to #12 continuously on repeat? (The Beginning is the End is the Beginning - Smashing Pumpkins)
No

3. What album is #26 from? (Green Day - !Viva la Gloria!)
21st Century Breakdown

4. What do you think about the artist who did #15? (Thelma Houston)
She's freaking awesome. I only listen to the one song, though, not terribly into disco.

5. Is #19 one of your favorite songs? (Sia - The Church of What's Happening Now)
No. I haven't decided whether I like it or not yet.

6. Who does #38 remind you of? (Christine Fellows' Saturday Night on Utopia Parkway)
Myself, I suppose.

7. Does #20 have better lyrics or music? (Damien Rice's 9 Crimes)
Both. With Damien it's nearly always both.

8. Do any of your friends like #3? (Nirvana's Rape Me)
Probably not.

9. Is #33 from a movie soundtrack? (Aerosmith's Cry Me a River)
Not that I know of.

10. Is #18 overplayed on the radio? (Marty Casey's Baby One More Time)
LOL. No.

11. What does #21 remind you of? (Fuck You by Lily Allen)
How much I hate stupid people.

12. Which song do you prefer, #5 or #22? (Oomph! - Tausend Neue Lügen or Everlasting Friend by Blue October)
I'm going to have to go with Oomph! The meaning of the song is pretty deep and surprising. "Alles bleibt in dir bestehn."

13. What album is #17 from? (Satisfaction - The Rolling Stones)
Out of Our Heads

14. When did you first hear #39? (Bree Sharp - David Duchovny, Why Won't You Love Me)
A couple of years ago. It caught my attention because I thought the name was funny. Like funny ha-ha not funny weird. Well, maybe funny weird but in a GOOD way.

15. When did you first hear #7? (Johnny Cash's Hurt)
Via the amazing video, around the time my Dad died. 02 or 03?

16. What genre is #8? (Ich und Elaine by 2raumwonung)
German Pop. I'm guessing.

17. Do any of your friends like #14? (Numb by Linkin Park)
My kids do.

18. What color does #4 remind you of? (Frank Turner's Love Ire & Song)
Red.

19. Have you ever blasted #11 on your stereo? (Dead Milkmen's Jellyfish Heaven)
Hasn't everybody? Yes. Yes I have. Sang along, too. It reminds me of my dead brother, who is now, presumably, in Jellyfish Heaven, if he's anywhere at all.

20. What genre is #37? (Laura Marling, Ghosts)
Indie, I'm sure.

21. Can you play #13 on any instrument? (Andrew Bird's Imitosis)
I'm sure I could handle it on the kazoo. Maybe even the Triangle.

22. What is your favorite lyric from #30? (Blue Lips by Regina Spektor)
"He stumbled into faith and thought, 'God, this is all there is?'"

23. What is your favorite lyric from #23? (Modern Love by David Bowie)
Not really one that I like specifically for the lyrics, but okay:
"Never gonna fall for."

24. Would you recommend #24 to your friends? (Jace Everett's Bad Things)
Well, I don't recommend a lot of music to my friends because I think musical tastes are so personal, but sure. It's a fun, sexy song.

25. Is #2 a good song to dance to? (Writing to Reach You - Travis)
Yeah, not so much.

26. Do you ever hear #16 on the radio? (Fuck Was I - Jenny Owen Youngs)
Yeah, no. But then, I don't really listen to the radio.

27. Is #32 more of a “nighttime” or “daytime” song? (As the World Falls Down - David Bowie)
Nighttime. Like one of those nights where you're dressed as a princess and there are goblins waltzing all around you and - oh. Never mind.

28. Does #36 have any special meaning to you? (Bellx1 Eve, the Apple of my Eye)
Not really, though I did go through a phase of listening to it obsessively. I still can't really say what it was that drew me, it just struck the right emotion at the time.

29. Do any of your friends like #31? (Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead)
Why so obsessed with my friends? No, I don't think they would really get it. I don't know anyone but me who enjoys being that sad.

30. Is #25 a fast or slow song? (Keiner Merkt Es, Panik)
Slow, but like a power ballad.

31. Is #35 a happy or sad song? (Be Be Your Love by Rachael Yamagata)
It's a song of longing, so I'd say sad.

32. What is one of your favorite lyrics from #9? (Reasons Not to be an Idiot - Frank Turner)
"I bet she's scared her life won't leave any traces." I think Frank Turner is a thoughtful and amazing lyricist, definitely one of the things that drew me to his music.

33. Is #34 better to listen to alone or with friends? (Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain - Willie Nelson)
Alone.

34. When did you first hear #27? (Running Up That Hill by Placebo)
When I went through a Placebo phase about 6 or 7 years ago, and gobbled up anything I could get my hands on.

35. Name 3 other songs by the artist who did #29. (Michael Stipe)
In the Sun with Chris Martin, Broken Promise with Placebo, Losing My Religion with R.E.M.

36. Do you know all the words to #6? (Oomph! Geborn Zu Sterben)
Are you kidding? I couldn't even pronounce all of the words to #6. I'm working on that, though. I've started learning German, and in that spirit I've collected a lot of German language music. Oomph! has been one of my favorite finds, and I hope to be able to sing along with them one day.

37. Does #28 have better lyrics or music? (Be OK by Ingrid Michaelson)
I think they both compliment each other pretty nicely, but I suppose the fact that I related to the lyrics is probably what caught my attention first.
"Open me up and you will see
I’m a gallery of broken hearts
I’m beyond repair, let me be
And give me back my broken parts."

38. What album is #10 from? (Monster by Lady Gaga)
The Fame Monster
