Pliny the Elder is always a treat. One guy I trade with occasionally recently sent me 2 fresh bottles, for free! Dark Lord doesn't come out till April though I believe. I'm going to go this time so maybe I'll be able to get a bottle out to you.

Oh I'm always finding something new, haha. Last weekend I saw Pelican, and had the pleasure of enjoying a beer named The Creeper. This beer was brewed by 3 Floyds specifically for Pelican's 10th anniversary. Metal and beer, working together in a whole new way.

I had the 10.10.10. and enjoyed it. Got one more bottle I'm gonna hang on to for a while. Much sooner than the RIS, though, is this little gem: http://beernews.org/2010/10/stone-lucky-bastard-ale-coming-soon-to-bottles-taps/

HA! hell yeah Peter Tagtgren put on a badass show dude. He is truly one of the great metal artists of our time. One has to appreciate him even if they don't like the melodeath genre. And oh yeah, BTW, tried the Stone Imperial Russian Stout and the Old Gaurdian... both were absolutely delightful... and surprisingly priced well... only $6 for a bomber!

Regardless of whether or not Blue Moon is a micro brew, it is owned by InBev which owns Anheuser Busch. I made a promise to myself to never drink another beer that is owned by InBev or MillerCoors in protest of their massive domination of the beer market. If you wish to join the pact that David and I have made regarding this matter, here is a list of beers that you can cross of your list of drinkables... http://brookstonbeerbulletin.com/the-big-brewers-brands/

That Bourbon County Stout will really sneak up on ya. I sat down and tried to casually drink one the other night, and ended up getting trashed hahaha 13%. As far as the stone barleywine goes, I've been reading a lot of great things... I just hope they have the courage to ship it all the way out to the Chi.

ya see... now, that is just completely unfair. I mean, I'm not anti-Goose Island by any means, but it just doesn't compare with what Stone has to offer. I finally had the Sublimely Self Righteous Ale for the first time yesterday... it was a delightful evening haha.

Yea I did hear that...very sad for those Bostonians. I'm very glad I got to see them, it was a really great show.

Cobalt I think is very interesting and enjoyable. I spin their album Gin from time to time, one of my favorites from last year. Krallice I think has a lot of potential but neither of their albums has really pulled me in. Dude tonight I drank a brand new beer, Bourbon County Coffee Stout. Absolutely amazing. We should totally work out a trade for a Parabola or something else sweet, because you gotta try this beer.

Heres a crazy idea. You should try to track down a bottle of this http://beernews.org/2010/04/firestone-walker-parabola-first-beer-in-proprietors-reserve-series/ then ship a bottle to me and i can ship you out some rare midwest beers like Bourbon County Stout or the new Bourbon County Coffee Stout orrrr...something else from my collection. Thoughts?

After spinning Precambrian a couple times though...Precambrian >>> Heliocentric for sure.

Heliocentric is my first album by these guys, but I'm definitely curious about the earlier albums. I am enjoying it though. Vocals do get a bit questionable from time to time, but they're not too bad. Overall I'm liking it. It is a nice change of pace from the stuff I normally listen to.

Stone day! Stone is finally distributed to the windy city. Got some bombers of the smoked porter, Arrogant Bastard, and Self Righteous ale after hitting up a release party and drinking several drafts. Excellent!

Oh nice, happy belated birthday man. I'm hoping to get my hands on some of those Vertical Epic Ales next week when Stone beers are released in IL. I'm feeling like a little kid before Christmas, just counting down the days.

It was fantastic man. Easily the best barleywine I've ever had. The aftertaste had more flavor than most beers haha. The Goatwhore show was also a ton of fun. They had a bunch of good beer on tap, and I ended up getting way too drunk. Sore for like 2 days after that.

Drinking a bottle of Old Guardian in a few minutes here and then heading into Chicago to see Goatwhore. I love Sundays

Japanese is a rather unique language. A large portion of the writing system was taken from Chinese, but spoken Japanese is entirely different. I find it to be quite an interesting language. I also don't speak it well enough to understand all the song lyrics, so I can listen to the occasional female singer when I'm not in the metal mood without the lyrics totally ruining it haha.

Haven't opened it yet actually. In the last couple of weeks I've started to buy a lot more beer than usual and I kind of have a bit of a collection going haha. I'm saving the Abyss for a celebratory evening. In other beer news, Stone is coming to Chicagoland on April 1st. My local craft beer bar is having a release party, which typically involves cheap drafts and promotional goods. Needless to say, I'm pretty happy about this development.

hahaha. A buddy of mine has been ordering beers from www.bottletrek.com for about a year now, and I finally decided to hop on and see what it was all about. They happened to have one available bottle of The Abyss, so I grabbed it up. They should get here early this week.

So I've got a shipment of Stone coming in next week. Some Oaked Arrogant Bastard and Old Guardian Barleywine. However, more exciting I think than the Stone, is a single bottle of http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/63/34420. Supposedly its the best imperial stout there is.

Haha you're right. I really enjoyed it actually. Interesting malt profile, some fruit flavors without being too sweet, and that classic Stone hop finish. I definitely would like to try the Arrogant Bastard, or the Oaked Arrogant Bastard for comparison. Hopefully I'll be able to soon, I hear Stone is finally going to start distributing out in Chicagoland this spring.

Oh yes I am looking forward to it like you wouldn't believe. Just started a new job and classes on Monday so I've been pretty swamped. Definitely looking forward to this weekend, and this beer. Does Bells Brewery distribute out to you guys? Normally I'm not a huge fan of theirs, but they release a beer called Hopslam once a year. I was lucky enough to have it on tap, and get a 6 pack of it. Hands down best IPA I've ever had.

Yea I get all the New Belgium stuff out here. Haven't tried 1554 though. Fat Tire itself I'm not too crazy about, but I did enjoy their 2 Below so I'll have to look into 1554. I had a Bourbon County Stout last night during our celebration, which was a great way to kick off a new year.

I listened to Obscura earlier this year a bit when I first got Cosmogenisis, but haven't really wanted to go back to it. It had some interesting songs but something about it was rubbing me the wrong way. I like the Templestowe vocalist alot though...kinda reminds me of Black Dahlia Murder if they didn't suck

I'm a pretty big Old Rasputin fan, but then again, I prefer my RIS to be a bit on the dry side. Some of them can be really sticky sweet. You could check into Bear Republic's Big Bear Black Stout, I know they're based in Cali. That one is similar to Rasputin, I like it a little more though. Does Victory Brewing get distributed out to you? I really like their RIS the Storm King, pick that up if you can.

Ah the Bourbon County Stout. That beast hails from my home city of Chicago, done by Goose Island. A very intense flavor experience, that is for sure.

Ah man that has got to be nice. I can't get anything by Russian River out here either, which blows. I DO however get beers from Surly and Three Floyds on tap out here alot, so that eases the pain of living in the midwest haha.

I actually live in Illinois, where Stone is unavailable. I can find the Ruination and the regular IPA up in Wisconsin, and occasionally order some of the limited shit (vertical epic series, anniversary brews) online. I'm really looking forward to trying their Russian Imperial Stout, I've heard nothing but great things.

For me, good beer and metal go hand in hand. The heavy, complex character of a fine beer really shines when I'm rocking some heavy, complex music.
