It's so weird to me how easily we can close our eyes and our ears to all of the sights and sounds around us. Musically we create our own little bubbles, where we feel safe and know that we never have to branch out to, to punch a hole into that protective sphere. We have no variety in our music so we stay on the surface, never daring to dig deeper, for fear that once we finally reach the bottom we will grow hungry. Hungry for something new, something that makes our minds rattle, and makes our gears turn. To actually delve into music, is just to terrifying to people, they are fine with they're Ray Charles, Led Zeppelin, or Hank Williams. For the longest time I believed that i had varied musical tastes, until one day, for the first time in my life, I got bored of my music. It was sort a jolt. Just to know that the things that once seemed so rich and new to me had became mundane, was terrifying, but it was my own fault. Quiet has always unnerved me so I began searching for new things and it's not easy, you have to sift through a lot of dirt to find that one gem, but once you do it is so worth it. So, look for the discomfort in your comfort, and open up yourself to new music, different music, don't lock yourself into a little box, because all alone with your favorite band, eventually you run out of things to talk about.
