After listening to acid techno for hours and hours last week, and thinking about how it was infinitely better than that mnml (minimal techno) stuff that is so popular nowadays, I wondered - how about minimalism? Minimal techno is supposed to have drawn influences from it, but everyone says minimalism cannot be compared to whatever it is that Richie Hawtin and Ricardo Villalobos are doing. "Why?", I wondered, and I decided to check it out.
I was told that Phillip Glass was among the most accessible minimalist composers, so I started with him… and I'm glad I did.
Thanks to him, I found many other interesting musicians, such as Max Richter, Michael Nyman, Eluvium, Arvo Pärt, Yann Tiersen, Gustav Mahler and Clint Mansell. Granted, half of them aren't considered minimalists, but what matters is that I'm in love with their music.
Once again, thanks Last.FM :)
