In 2009 I saw 95 bands play 118 sets on 52 days of the year. 44 sets were at 4 festivals over 7 days, 44 were by headliners and 30 were support bands.

Unlike JJJ, only songs that were released in 2009 were considered. Songs that were released previously aren't considered, even if JJJ only just caught on and started playing them in 2009. Live versions, remixes and any other ploy that JJJ use to get that Wolfmother, Foo Fighters, Muse, etc. song into the list are out, as are singles released in 2009 that were released on an album before 2009.

To round out my thoughts on 2009 in music, here's what I think were the stand out albums of the year. 87 albums (excluding EPs) released in 2009 were deemed worthy to stay in my collection, but several others were deleted because they were rubbish.
