The Fri 15 Feb – U.S. Bombs, Far From Finished, The Willkills show turned out to be a bit anticlimactic. I got out of work later than I wanted and missed the first hour of the show. Rushed over only to find out U.S.Bombs was stuck in Denver due to recent storms. I was given the option to get a ticket refund or watch the last 45 minutes of the openers who were now the whole show.

Concert number three in 1 week is Shonen Knife and some bands I haven’t heard of before. Between full time work and finals week at the college I really wasn’t in the mood for another concert in the middle of the week. Shonen Knife is ok but not really music I’m super interested in. When good bands come they seem to come in groups. After a month long drought a wave of ska/punk came to the Avalon Theater on the 24th; headlining was Big D and the kids Table, Whole Wheat Bread, with guests Brain Failure. I was excited for Brain Failure, I always love it when foreign bands come to America to play, and punk from China almost sounds like its not possible. Now that Radiohead did it NIN, Oasis, and other artists are thinking of releasing digital copies straight to the internet and let fans choose the price. But I thought Cliff Richard's version was an interesting spin on the concept.
The more fans order the more the cost goes down.

This venue has become notorious to me for some of the most piss poor promotion (not always the venue’s fault) and horribly bad timing for the shows (not %100 the venues fault but close) and just bad treatment for the artists. Unfortunately “In the Venue” is one of the biggest and busiest venues in the valley for the punk music I usually listen to.

Last Friday I went to the MySpace music show at In The Venue, Say Anything, Hellogoodbye, Polysics, Young Love. Before you start hating me or judging me I wasn’t there for the MySpace bands. Polysics came to the US!!!
