Um... don't wanna talk about it. It's bad haha. Well, ambient is really nice! I love Sigur Ros with a passion and that kind of sent me into more post-rock stuff, which sent me into ambient, which sent me into dark/drone ambient, so on and so forth. And I love AH&AHS, and I love the accordion in it. Bowerbirds also has an accordion..ist (?) and I've been really interested in the instrument lately. I wanna play! What's it like?

Oh man, I have gone through so many phases as well. I went through one where I changed the way I looked completely, although I think it might have been a combination of (what I consider now to be) bad music and horrible, pent-up, pre-and-early-teen angst. Luckily that vanished. It was embarrassing! I will make you a mix tape one day, sir. It will be of epic proportions. So some new genres to listen to, eh? I don't know what all you listen to know, but besides garage rock, I've been dipping into a ton of ambient lately, as well as shoegaze, straight up folk, and noise rock. If you want something unique, check this guy out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJBI4ckmB2M I don't listen to much hip-hop, but this song along blew my miiiiiiiind!

Man... That's intense but I understand. I just tend to get bored really easily and constantly need to switch it up. Mix tapes are my best friend! Bu I can totally relate. When I'm not being ADD over my music, I'm usually obsessing over a band or album. Even genre. Lately it's been garage rock :3

For sure. I like political fiction, but I'm not one for reading preachy type political books. I guess that's why I'm torn on her. I liked some of her novels, but her personal-belief journals turned me off big time. But I love political music, which explains part of my affinity for punk rock. (the conversation was straying away from music... Had to tie it back somehow!)

Of course they were! Sinclair is a personal favorite of mine... Babbitt is probably in my top 5 favorite novels ever. Basically I love any book that delves into the socialist-capitalist skirmishes. And doing so in my favorte time period? Yes please. I love Borges as wellllllllll. Hooray for good books

That's beautiful music. I know next to nothing about classical, although I do really enjoy early morning classical on NPR. I know how retarded and entry-level this is going to sound to a classical buff, but I'm gonna have to say that Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring is probably one of my favorite pieces. Ever.

Oh yeah, I know them! I really enjoy them. I like Japanese instrumental. Takeshi Terauchi & Bunnys are one of my favorite bands. Except they're surf rock, not math at all. So share your discoveries! I'm down with impressionist composers any day. In return, here is some awesome circus punk marching band music. http://www.myspace.com/muccapazza

That's really cool. There were these two math rock bands that would come up to my town and play shows at my friend's house. Sourdough and Yo Delay He Who. They're nice guys, you should check them out. I mostly listen to artists like Tera Melos, By The End of Tonight, Giraffes? Giraffes!, Battles, Ghosts and Vodka, Ahleuchatistas, Antlers (NOT The Antlers who did Hospice), Maps & Atlases, etc, etc. Pretty common ones for the genre.

Yeah, I definitely don't hate her by any means. That's super cool about Tera Melos! Are you a big fan of math rock? I can't get enough of it.. I always tell myself I'll go math rock-hunting, but I never do, so I've been listening to the same 10-15 artists forever. Doesn't bother me too much though. And you're lucky to live in an area that close enough to nice venues! I mean, I live about 110 miles away from Phoenix, where EVERY show is, so every time I want to see something, I have to make that killer drive. It sucks.

Yeah, I've listened to it. Gonna be honest, she's not my favorite musician, but I was really impressed. I'm gonna have to hear it a few more times when i'm in the mood to really form a solid opinion on it. Also, I see you're from LA? Jeez, I'd be at the Smell every night if I were there!

Hahaha I am flattered! Accordion is the shit. Probably the greatest instrument in the world. Yeah I would probably be upset too. Then again NO ONE hardly comes here.. GET THIS!! SUFJAN STEVENS came to my little state and I didnt find out till a week before and it was sold out. I was crushed. Like SUFJAN STEVENS...That would have been sooo good. I try to investigate to try really good concerts near by. The closest they ever get is to Boston which is like a 4 hour drive and 65 dollars a ticket and the hassell of trying to find a place to stay. So I hardly see anyone live. But this year I am making more of an effort. I have so far seen 3 shows and it will probably be a while till I see another because of winter. But I met all the bands I went to see. OTHER THAN ST.VINCENT!! >_< I waited for an hour and a half..In the rain,, she never came out. But I get Andrew and a month before that THE DECEMBERIST and then Arms and Sleepers last month :D But enough bragging lol.. Joanna is amazing.

Beirut is my favorite too! I would kill to see Zach Condon in flesh. Its a dream of mine really. I saw St.Vincent live this October, she is so AMAZING. She was touring with Andrew Bird, whom I actually got to meet... hahaha best night of my life. I dub the music twin. Perhaps we can learn some things from each other... :)
