Hi, i donno why but i somehow find it strange that you don't listen to "the fall of troy". i think it's a pretty decent band, at least a couple of their first albums are amazing.

Lol :D An ex of mine was a huge fan of ska and ska punk so I really enjoy some of it. Ah, I didn't do anything to people. Some months ago I was sick and got really bored, so I started raiding artist pages with brony buddies from last.fm. Sometime around then something made me change my gender on my page. Then all of a sudden I was BURIED with friend requests :O So I didn't change back immediately and played along, out of boredom again I guess...

I can understand the nostalgic value of it, yeah. I still love MCR for the same reason I guess. In the end it's a pretty good album, especially considering it's their full length debut, but people should accept the fact that the band has grown up with them, the music probably matured even more.

Hehe, thought that all brits know their version of God Save The Queen. The more I listen to the older bands the more I'm certain that it's essential. For example, I keep seeing people shouting on BMTH's page that Count Your Blessings is their best album and that they sounded original on it. I could think the same if I haven't listened to At The Gates. And that's what makes TIAH so good, even though you hear the influences it still feels original and fresh, unlike CYB.

Oh, hehe. Well I've listened to The Sex Pistols' legendary debut album out of curiosity. Can't say I'm a fan but for me this is important, listening to all these influential bands. Now that I'm familliar with The Sex Pistols I can hear their influence in music. Oliver Sykes sounds just like an evil grindcore Johnny Rotten, the band [artist]Every Time I Die[/artist] basically sounds like The Sex Pistols, but born 30 years later in Alabama and it's members are all Harvard graduates in calculus instead of London junkies :D

Ahh that would have been great, I would love to see Jordan & Jeremy sharing the stage. Don't feel too bad though I looked at your events and there are so many bands in there on my bucket list. How were Circle takes, listener and basement in particular? Also LD seem to love the uk and they always play with great bands like defeater and pianos, so they will definitely return

Hehe, it's not embarrasing at all! It's quite an amazing accomplishment because it's really well written! The British approach has always been key in rock music and and Enter Shikari just prove that it's going to keep being that way. I'll be really glad if La Dispute are setting a new trend! They will bring the artistic approach back to music! :) It's what I've been hoping for. Enter Shikari have a very fresh sound and if the new dubstep metal genre really takes off I think it will spawn a lot of good music. I'm sure it will be better than the NWOAHM/melodeathcore and the nu-metal trends :D

I really love La Dispute. I've been into them for some time now, I think that by incorporating these blues and progressive rock elements they have taken emotional hardcore on an entirely new level. They made it even more personal, stripped and, well, emotionally heavy. We need music like that! About Enter Shikari, well I haven't heard of them until recently when they released A Flash Flood of Colour. I liked the album, very political and meaningful lyrics, the music was good too, I think that they should just work on the dubstep, sounds kinda weak at times. The choruses lack power at times too, but don't get me wrong, I think the album deserves at least 8/10. I believe it's one of the best dubsterp-core/metal albums to date.

Yeah, if they want to be closeminded it's their own choice and loss. But noone can deny that if there wasn't groove metal, metalcore or whatever metal, metal music wouldn't survive all these years. Metal started as a trend itself, even though extreme metalheads deny it. NWOBHM was just a trend, spawned by hard rock bands being influenced by punk rock bands. It's what created the spark. The "heavy metal" genre is pop music in it's nature, even though many bands try to deny that by incorporating jazz and avant-garde influences. Me, I have no problem with pop music, "scene" music, whatever music, I generally pick my music by listening to it and deciding whether I like it or not. If I like it, I keep listening, if not I simply don't care about it.

Thank you! :) I've never really understood the extreme metalheads who just discard all the mainstream metal as "bad" or "for kiddies" and divide metal into "mallcore" and "real metal". That's just stupid. I've been active in the Extreme Music Forum for over a year now and even though the users there are really cool to hang out with most just don't even bother giving bands like BMTH a chance. They just listen to the most popular song and the band is forever "bad" in their eyes. I'm making attempts at fixing that in the forum but I'm noticing that whenever I post a post-hardcore or metalcore song noone even listens to it :D

Bring Me's debut is decent, but it's good only because of their extreme talent. It's a metalcore record which borrows heavily from At The Gates and modern hardcore. They are capable of much, much better and I'm sure they won't dissapoint. I'm only worried if they will go too far with their experiments with electronica and post-rock and lose their energy and drive.

Oh my god :D And you're a fan of Lostprophets :D Awww :D Wow, didn't know they were pressured to get back to post-hardcore. Some bands just have to ignore what their fanbase says and continue doing what they love. I admire In Flames for that. You can't go wrong when you're honest with yourself and love your music. I think their latest album is their weakest, it's just awkward to see four guys that passed their 30s to try to sound and be how they were when they were kids... There are some solid tracks on it but it's obvious they are trying to compromise their art for the sake of their "fans".

Pretty much :P I don't really like most post-punk, I love The Cure, I like Depeche Mode's "Ultra", I like U2's "Zooropa", I admire Swans! They are a more experimental version of post-punk though. Wow, didn't know you were a fan of Funeral For A Friend! The Cure's influence on them is kinda obvious, especially on "Tales Don't Tell Themselves". Oh my god, what a wonderful album <3

The Cure, especially their 80s stuff is very influential and their mainstream success is well deserved. When I took Funeral For A Friend's vocalist an interview he told me that he just madly admires Disintegration and that it's his favorite album of all time. Oli Sykes said something similar for a German media. I'm really glad you like them!

Are you referring to Bring Me The Horizon? Start from their latest album, There Is A Hell.. It's their best, by a long, long shot. Their debut EP This Is What The Edge of your Seat Was Made For is deathcore/mathcore and is pretty bad, unless you're a huge deathcore fanboy. Their debut album is very At The Gates inspired deathcore, and is one of the best albums in the genre. Has a great production, decent songwriting and vocals. Has pretty bad lyrics though. Their second album Suicide Season is metalcore, with deathcore elements. It's better than the debut and has some AWESOME moments. The third and latest album is their best though, and is definately a masterpiece.

I'd say that The Cure are about 5% of the influence to the album, but it's definately apparent if you're a The Cure fan. Oli's vocals, the lyrics (Don't Go), the keyboards -they all ocasionally remind me of The Cure. It's not that big of an influence, but it definately caught my attention while listening to the album.

Haha, yeah. I always find it funny that I rarely have super compatibility with people who's tastes that I actually like, it makes no sense.

I just think it's funny how butthurt people get when you call a band bad. Whether or not I like the band is a moot point really, I just like seeing how people react.
