I didn't start with Iron Maiden's best album, it was actually a pretty rough start looking back. I started with the cliche Metallica albums and moved from there. I eventually got into the darker and heavier type thrash bands and that led me into my current love, Blackened Thrash (Cranium, Sodom, Bathory, etc). I actually have plans on seeing them next month on the tenth.

I disagree that it would necessarily mean the disintegration of an Objectivist movement, just a sort of "weeding out" if you will. You can see this with the open-system Objectivists, in the sense that they have accepted the analytic-synthetic dichotomy on some philosophical or possibly even a psycho-epistemological level. People of the sort specified will most definitely abandon the philosophy that they tried to accept on faith, if even without discarding the specific term. As far as Politics go, I say voting not at all is better than voting for someone you despise. Last.fm? Yeah, the conversations are usually musical as one would expect. When did you get into thrash?

Yeah, the Glenn Beck stuff has specifically caught my attention because of the fact he is a religious nut case of the highest order. Among the Objectivists I have spoken to who support such dealings, the Republican ones and the like, it seems there is some sort of odd "plan" in those actions. I have heard one fellow say that the religious enemies are less dangerous to Capitalism because the Socialists are more consistent. This was accompanied by the Rand quote that states "In any conflict between two men (or two groups) who hold the same basic principles, it is the more consistent one who wins." However, they fail to address that in any co-operation between parties who hold convictions that are differing and fundamentally incompatible, the irrational side will always triumph if the differing fundamentals have ill-defined borders. It absolutely sickens me to see Objectivists collaborating with Alturism. Glenn Beck and his ilk are not worth my moral sanction.

The interesting thing is that scenesters are generally on the liberal side (even though there are definitely some right-wingers there) and have the exact same kind of attitude towards Rand that the desperate Conservatives have. It's ironic but hardly funny. The thing about it is, the Rand arguments even with the teeth pulled out of them, are incompatible with both sides of that spectral coin. It's horrible how the media is able to portray her as a conservative political philosopher when the conservatives quoting her are rejecting one of the most basic objectivist principles, context. I will say though that some objectivists are supporting the conservatives more because of the new administration, odd huh?

Ozzy actually /was/ really good (See: Symptom of the Universe) but now he is just done. He and his band need to retire. There's an really nice bootleg (i think) from "Live In Argentina 2008, Quilmes Rock Festival" of Ozzy and it is just sad. The singing is sloppy and even non-existant in places and the other band members play sloppily and way too slow. I said, hey the last track is Paranoid they cant possibly *(#$ that up. It was played at about half the normal tempo and was just plain pitiful. He and his band should just quit the music business so Dio can take on the Black Sabbath name again.
