Favourite albums are for me those albums that you love from the first to the last song, that you love to revisit, and keep with you all the time in your mind. Just because an album contains a song I adore, doesn't make it a favourite album. An album is an entity.

1. The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
The most significant piece of music in my life. Brought to me by my first love, with the words "it will be the most beautiful thing you've ever heard, it will make you cry". It did.

2. Jeff Buckley - Grace
Jeff Buckley, known to most people for "Hallelujah", came into my life in my late teens and changed my life. I don't think I will ever hear a more expressive voice. He is perfection. Grace is perfection. It has a fateful feeling about it, very chilling, yet comforting.

3. The Beach Boys - SMiLE
This album speaks for itself. While Pet Sounds is more rigorous, SMiLE is its sibling on LSD. Surf's Up is one of the best moments of my life. Yet it has a sad and fateful feeling about it, like a "tower of Babel" of music.

4. Elliott Smith - XO
Elliott was a rock in my life when I was younger. His poetry and the ethereal beauty of his music got me through years of agony. This album is a diamond, as is most of his works.
