Sat 23 May – Coal Chamber, Dope, SOiL, The Defiled

This is the first time for me in about 6 years that I have not headed to London for a gig other than festivals, so it was nice to have a change of venue and go to the legendary Rock City, it is a great venue with loads of space to watch the bands, as always I will review them in order

Dope - A band I absolutely adore, they speak to me in many ways and have helped me through tough times, so finally getting to see them live was a high point for me, they kicked arse, was great to hear them play "addiction" and "bitch" live, just a shame they had to go on first and didn't have a longer set, should have been co-headliners, would love to see them again - 10/10

The Defiled - terribly out of place, really poor sound and performance, there is always so much hype for this band and the singer is a really nice guy, it's just a shame they are really bad live, was nice to sort of here "as I drown", but this band really didn't belong here tonight and the crowd was dead - 2/10

Soil - Nice to see them back with their original singer, even if he does look like a gnome, he has a great set of pipes on him and getting to hear "breaking me down" was a highlight, they had the crowd jumping and the singer even got in the crowd for "halo", pleasantly suprised - 8/10

Coal Chamber - A band back together, with a new attitude and they bring a barrel of carnage with them, so fucking mental live, even better than devildriver, which is saying something, they opened with "loco" which had everyone going mental, Dez has amazing vocals live for the clean parts and the growls, nu metal at it's best, was estatic to hear "big truck" played live, and getting a sing-a-long for "sway" made my night, the roof was on fire and we let that motherfucker burn - 10/10
