I'm so hardcore that I didn't tell a place when they undercharged me for my food the other day. Beat that, poseurs.

I'm surprised he hasn't mentioned anyone else in there though, i was expecting to get flamed for something like 'nu metal fan went stupid gay trve metaldork'.

my favorite country artist is Kendrick Lamar, though I really enjoy Fat Larry's Band for that sort of thing as well. I really only listen to hardcore like Brian Eno when I'm drunk on blue rare steak because bloody meat is the best because AMERICA.

Though if you want something to actually go on: "Except that they don't exist until we give them a name." Actually the characteristics that define a genre do, such as overall sound and structure. After this happens with a wave of bands, generally speaking, people coin a term for it since it probably doesn't fit into anything else that's already defined, or it is different enough that it should be considered an offshoot of something. It existed once bands started playing it. It just wasn't called anything yet. 16 Horsepower doesn't really sound like the style that the term "black metal" came to describe unless you count "the songs that sound dark" but that means a lot of different things and can be achieved a number of ways so

I would actually form a response that could be taken more seriously, but I have a hard time taking you and your posts as more than a joke. That goes whether you've been being serious or not.

I toke up to my favorite stoner metal band Crystal Castles and think about how things don't exist until we name them. I mean, what is perception? Is reality real? Was it aliens? Are we in a computer? I don't know man. It sure does keep me up at night though.

I like brutal death metal; Michael Jackson, Shania Twain, Nickelback, Justin Bieber, Jay Z, The Chemical Brothers, One Direction, Ice Cube, Cradle Of Filth, Korn, The Beatles, Manowar, Burzum, and Metallica are my favorite bands from that genre.

You're right. The lines between Jazz and Punk are totally blurred. There is nothing in their sound or structure that sets them apart. That's why they sound so similar and calling them anything is silly. All music is the same. A+ bro.

*sigh* so close to being a perfect list of actual hardcore bands in the Top Artists... by ADTR and Parkway Drive had to ruin it.

Except different types/styles of music do exist. Yes, any label could have been slapped onto them. Hardcore ended up thrown at a group of bands that played the same style of music, which very well exists, so it was established that this was the name of that style of music. Your posts are pointless and you're just trying to be a pseudo-philosophical voice of reason. We all know that hardcore very well could have had the name boulder slapped onto it and we wouldn't have known the difference.

Oh great, here we go with the "but it doesn't really exist" post. When types of music certainly do exist. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to categorize them, and considering categorization can be useful, it's perfectly understandable why people get a little annoyed with slapping an already established term onto something else. I wouldn't be too thrilled if I was trying to find doom metal and kept running into creepy halloween music just because some kid decided "MAN THAT SOUNDS LIKE...YOUR DOOM MAN"

"Genres don't really exist anyways" that was the statement i was referring to, i was pointing out that they do exist.

ADTR isn't classified as hardcore though. Post-hardcore maybe. If Genres don't exist then how can we categorize them then? That's like saying if a tree falls and no one is around it doesn't make a sound which it does. Genres on the other hand are a way of categorizing music so people can identify the sound better. If you just call it music, metal or whatever then it seems like a huge mess and people want a particular sound to listen to. If they want to look more into the music genre of a particular style then they have that ability to explore any artists with that particular sound within that genre of music.

That being said no, some of these bands aren't hardcore. That doesn't make them "fake music" it means that some dumb kids, as usual, keep using a label when they don't really know what it means.

"An example of fake music" Nope, fake music is not a thing. It's shit, sure, but that doesn't make it not music.

"Core is not metal. Whether it's good or not is a different story." Depending on what you think metal is but i think core stuff is just watered down metal. I like some metalcore/deathcore, but i'll usually try to look for the lesser known stuff. What i don't like is when people lump together metalcore bands with melodeath bands. Lol at people who think ATR, AILD and hundreds of unknown metalcore bands are melodeath. Even melodeath itself has taken its toll, spawned some generic material. Whatever though, listen to what suits you.
