1999/神奈川にて浜崎、長谷川姉妹により結成。2002/miaouとして本格的に活動開始。東京でのライブを始める。2003年/ライヴメンバーとして近藤裕介(Gt)が参加し、４人編成でのライブを始める。
August, 2003/NOON RECORDSよりtoeの美濃氏をエンジニアに迎え、1stアルバム」happiness」をリリース。オーストラリアのART OF FIGHTINGと共に東京、大阪、名古屋とレコ発ツアーを決行。January, 2004/ネオプレックス主催のコンピレーションアルバム」少し遅い夜に」に参加。January, 2005/新たなライブヴメンバーとして山代巧(Gt)、黒川成樹(Synth etc.)が参加し、５人編成でのライブを始める。
August, 2005/teto recordsより再びtoeの美濃氏をエンジニアに迎え、2ndアルバム」make these things alright」をリリース。September … , 2005/バンド自らカナダよりbelow the seaを招聘し、東京、名古屋、京都、大阪とカップリングツアーを決行。LINUS RECORDSのレーベルPrecoよりbelow the seaとのスプリットep」tour ep」をリリース。March, 2006/カナダはモントリオールのレーベルWHERE ARE MY RECORDSのコンピレーションアルバム」Je T’aime」に参加。May, 2006/新たなライヴメンバーとして橋本陽一朗(Gt)が参加。
September, 2006/Thomason Soundsよりミニアルバム」painted e.p.」をリリース。November, 2006/北アイルランドのTRACER AMCと共に東京、名古屋、京都、大阪、徳島、福岡とカップリングツアーを決行。September, 2007/アメリカのDarlaレーベルのコンピレーションアルバム」Little Darla Has a Treat For You - Endless Summer 2007-2008」に参加。

    Miaou's music can easily be purchased at a decent price in Europe. Amazon has had All Around Us, Make These Things Alright and Painted for under £8 for at least a year and a half. The Day Will Come Before Long was a little trickier to find but I didn't pay more than £10 for the album. Admittedly, Happiness is harder to track down but it isn't quite up to the quality of All Around Us or Painted so shouldn't be a first port of call for purchases in my opinion.

    i just wanted to say that the only complaint i have about miaou would be that one can't get their music legally at a decent price in europe. and then i found out that they're even on bandcamp! who-hoo! :)

    "generic post-rock"?! first of all - there aren't that many post rock bands in the first place. secondly, so far, i've only found FIVE post-rock bands i consider worth listening to. miaou being one of them. AND i was damn surprised to find out that they're from japan! which... has nothing to do with wether it's generic or not but based on the sound, i for sure would've thought skandinavia. maybe north america.
