I complained last year about the over-accessibility of music and the lack of a clear musical direction in my life. Thankfully I had only the former to complain about this year and as far as complaints go, it’s an entirely self-inflicted one. z-soldier and I realized that we had a downloading addiction (52GB in 14 days; mediafire archives the new crack) and so this year we swapped downloading duties: when one of us was in charge of downloading, the other stayed `on the wagon’ so to speak; music would appear magically in our shared dropbox folder.

Two exciting new musical directions became visible to me this year. The first was a re-exploration of deep space synth and kraut sounds originally explored by the likes of Manuel Göttsching and Klaus Schulze with an occasionally noisy lo-fi aesthetic; with many of these artists releasing on tape-only labels. Unusually for me, the artists in this grouping are mostly American; they combine the Germanic inspiration with sounds from 80s American tv shows and the America of Blade Runner.

Dos anys després de la seva darrera visita, Club 8 van tornar dissabte passat a Barcelona presentant el seu darrer àlbum The People’s Record. Si per alguna cosa és caracteritzen els projectes musicals del Johan Angergård és pel seu eclecticisme, no només entre ells, sinó entre disc i disc de cadascun, sia amb The Legends, Acid House Kings o Club 8. A la vegada, tots conserven la seva idiosincràsia malgrat que, segons com, els canvis de rumb poden resultar desconcertants. L’actual gira dels Club 8 plantejava precisament aquest interrogant. Com serien capaços de combinar en un mateix repertori els seus clàssics d’europop electrònic en la línia de Saint Etienne, amb els nous ritmes tropicals amb els quals van sorprendre tothom amb The People’s Record?

no hubo muchos realmente, pero era de esperarse despues de un 2008 muy zarpado. todavia me quedo pensando en el orto que tuvimos en ver a todas esas bandas. calidad Y cantidad! pero este año tambien arrancamos con todo. aca van breves reviews, en orden de grositud (?):

1. Ken Stringfellow - Musimundo [08.04.2009] y La Trastienda [09.04.2009]
SEEEEEEEE! ahh tanto tiempo tan obsesionada con su musica... ya me habia resignado, asumia que nunca en mi vida lo iba a ver en vivo. casi muero el dia que vi el evento en mis recs, hasta deje de buscar el cap de lost (!!!!!!!). ni hablar de el, todo un caballero. se que soy muy molesta, que cada vez que puedo pido temas, etc., pero fue tanta la emocion que no podia parar jaja. increible que me haya reconocido del facebook (y que me siga hablando (mas molesta todavia)), que me haya hecho caso con lo de los temas de los posies, el acustico despues de la trastienda, y el cierre de la noche en seddon, cantando juntos Here's to the Future. …
