I don't know what's up with this no-wave band named after the god of war, or who this rapper is. I came for some seriously awesome doom.

I don't think you realize that you yourself are a huge Captain Beefheart fan. It's just hiding within you.

"Change it back to Mars...." - I agree. Who was the idiot that changed it in the first place?

New live bootleg (?) out! "Live At Artists Space" LP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZI7lCPl91D4 Edition of 500 "In May of 1978 there was a five night music festival at Artists Space on Hudson Street in Tribeca [...] On the final night of the festival the two bands playing were Mars and Teenage Jesus and the Jerks. What we are presenting to you today are both sets by Mars–the most mysterious, and bizarrely-styled NY band of their day. One set takes up each side, and while they are similar in song selection, it’s wild to hear how different they are in terms of attack, sonics and approach. The quartet was never captured at its mutational best in the studio, but this live slab is revelatory. A futher live Mars LP will be forthcoming in the spring. " Holy shit!

listening to Mars's studio discography is like listening to a band slowly descend into madness. Their first single is pretty normal, their No New York tracks are a little weird, and their last EP is absolutely nuts.
