I must be the weirdest Live fan ever in that I like both The Distance to Here and Secret Samadhi more than Throwing Copper. I think the ultra-heavy radio airplay of I Alone and Lightning Crashes damaged my ability to appreciate the songs, years later, when I actually discovered the band. Anyone have some recommendations for other songs off Throwing Copper that might make me move it up in my ranking if I give them a listen?

It's kool to have all their songs in one playlist ... I can hear the variety of Live much better ... fav song is "I Alone" ... what a great Buddhist metal song!

I've been a fan of Live since 1994 and I was delighted to see them live in August 2008. They performed many songs that were Throwing Copper, since that's pretty much their most well known & best album. They put on an awesome show.

Throwing Copper was one of those album that ushered me into adulthood, when I was in my grunge days... Songs like "Pillar of Davidson," "T.B.D.," and "White, Discussion" gave me much to think on. It was very difficult to see them, and especially Ed, embrace all the ego-maniacal rock-star posturing. Their egos took a very important band and rendered them useless in the long run, which is really a shame.

This got me through my early adulthood. Throwing Copper is fucking awesome. This band was unique, no one should hate them. They were an integral part of the 90's.

No one else agrees Distance to Here is their finest hour? I'd class it right up there with the best alt rock releases of the 90s, just behind Mellon Collie

After listening Live's production through I can't see why Throwing Copper is talked so much. Mental Jewelry has more character, freedom and variability than any other of Live's later albums and Ed is able to really use his powerful voice in those 1st album's songs. The Distance to Here surprised with two strong and distinguishable songs which were the two first tracks although being a bit too mainstream aimed. Comparing Mental Jewelry to their later production is like taking any late 60's muscle car, like Mustang or Charger and comparing them to their 80's counterparts, they are the same cars with many developments, but on the other hand not at all... more like a grey, plain shadows of what they once were. Brothers Unaware, Operation Spirit, Pain Lies on the Riverside, Tired of ”Me”, for me the best of Live. Oh and one wish, masochistic some may say, but I would like to hear Phil Collins singing along with Ed Kowalczyk. *Thinking out loud*
