I came over the self titled album at a record store in Boston when this guy told me it was by Darker My Love and that he was friends/ex-friends with the vocalist and he saw them opening for The Dandy Warhols one time. When I asked him if the album was any good he said he had no idea since he had never listened to them.
I really thought these guys were going to be big. Turns out Tim's other gig white fence (which is also great) got more love all round. Alive as you are is underrated. It's a more clean full band version of what white fence do. Minus all the abstract parts and Lo-Fi sound i guess..
I think all three albums are killer. I don't understand the hate Alive As You Are gets. That whole album feels amazing (ala Grateful Dead) and the vocals are absolutely beautiful (especially on Rain Party and June Bloom).
