シアトル生れ、5歳の時にLAに移り住んだアリソンはクラシック、モータウン・ソウル、スウィング・ジャズ、ビートルズ等の音楽やラジオから流れてくるポップスを聴き、ピアノを独学で練習し、10代で曲作りをはじめる。また、ルイス・キャロルからチャールズ・ディケンスまで幅広く文学作品を読みふけり、勉学にも打ち込み飛び級で16歳にして高校を卒業。その頃「本当に好きな音楽、作りたい音楽」が見え、本格的に音楽活動をスタートさせた。ファイン・フレンジー名義のソロ・アーティストとして自分だけの表現方法を模索し始め、夢中で曲を作り続けた後、様々なレーベルにデモを送り、興味を持ってくれた人たちを、なんと自宅に招いて演奏を聴かせるというユニークな方法をとった彼女。「とにかく何をやるにしてもオーガニックに自然に進めたかったの。自宅なら私が一番自然体でいられるでしょ？」。現在所属している米EMIレーベルへも、そのように自宅でピアノの弾き語りを披露して、契約を勝ち取った。その後、ルーファス・ウェインライト等のオープニングで全米を周り、ファンを獲得。欧州でもラジオチャートの上位を獲得する等、今後の活躍が期待されるファイン … ・フレンジーがついに日本デビュー！

    Pines is a hard album because is much more experimental than the first two ones, but it's a magic album and I love every second of it, if it wasn't the lyrical content of OCOTS that means so much for me, Pines would be my favorite.

    Oh come on now, people wondering why Pines isn't high on her rankings or saying Pines hasn't done well due to lack of marketing. A Fine Frenzy has gotten plenty enough exposure - enough to make almost any other artist extremely jealous. I've heard her in supermarkets and on TV shows more than once, and Now is the Start got promotion on TV as well. Pines isn't doing that well because it's not that exciting of an album. It is what it is. If you're into Pines, good for you. I envy you. I'm a huge fan of her first two albums but struggle to listen to Pines.

    @Nokturrnus: what do you think is the case?... It keeps changing, maybe the label has been setting for yellow one quit a bit, but I remember a year ago an instant duel between these two. I would just love to see autumn cover once in like two months.

    swarmsea: Although there are some two-cover albums where I strongly prefer one over another, this one is not the case (but I prefer autumn cover). So I don't see a reason to do this.

    Okay, there's an elephant in this room and I would like to get i out of here! Clearly, we all are Alison's fans, can we make a group or something like that and address the issue of "One Cell in the Sea" album cover?... I get that there are people with different album covers, but it's not fair that there are people who constantly live for the yellow one, doing everything in their power to vote the autumn one down, come on! Let's make something like, once in a two months we get a yellow, then after two months we can have an autumn cover. And it would all be fair, without pissing anyone off.
