    my winamp won't connect to my last.fm software anymore

    Ok. Yesterday I downloaded the new winamp, which I btw think sucks, and it worked fine. Today, I was listening to some music, went to check my last.fm page, and there's been nothing scrobbled since yesterday, so I checked if it actually shows in the software, which it doesn't.

    I tried downloading the plugins again - didn't work
    I uninstalled winamp and went back to my old one. - didn't work.
    I uninstalled last.fm and installed it again - didn't work.
    I restarted my computer - still doesn't work.


    I think it works in iTunes, but I hate iTunes with a passion. I don't like windows media player either, I'm a sworn winamp fan (except I'm pretty annoyed now that I can't find my previous skin again) and it really pisses me off that it won't scrobble because it's the second thing going wrong with this idiot windows vista laptop today.

    PLEASE HELP!

  • First thing go to client help > diagnostic and check if there are cached tracks and if the submission server status is OK.

    If this is the case try to click on you user name under account to see if it unfreeze the scrobbles from the cache.
    Always bear in mind that security settings, firewall or certain antivirus can prevent last.fm to connect to the internet, so checking that sort of things could help.

    cache is empty and submission server status is OK.
    my firewall and antivirus has been working totally fine with it all along and I haven't changed any settings there so that should be fine too.

    it just seems like my winamp hates my last.fm really.

  • Well before blaming winamp, are you aware that there are some delay issues going on on the site lately? have you noticed anything similiar to this. Maybe waiting 24hrs could make the situation clearer.

    yes, I am aware of that. That happened to me a few days ago and then it corrected itself, but when it did that, it did at least show in my last.fm on my computer that I was listening to a song and it said it was scrobbling. Now it doesn't recognize when I play the songs, I doubt it has anything to do with the actually website. However, if I play it songs in both iTunes and Windows Media Player, it shows up like normal.
    See? There is a problem with my winamp and the last.fm on my computer.

    You mean you are not getting any artist info in the client window?
    Have you tried Tools > Get Plugin and check if the one for winamp it is ienabled?

    Yes, that's exactly what I mean. I've tried that around three times and it says plugin is installed. I have no idea why it's not working.

  • Aw..that's very weird...well, i know it sound sort of dumb but...surely it is installed, but is it ticked/enabled?
    Whatever is the reason is definetely a plugin issue..if it is installed and enabled all you can do is crosscheck from winamp from option > preferences > plug-ins > media library...and see if the audioscrobbler plugin it' there.

    curiously enough i experinced the same thing recently. When i play tracks in winamp, the last.fm client dosent seem to know that i am listening to music. Its possible its caused by myself when i was configuring winamp, but i am pretty sure i dident install a newer version before it happened.

    actually, none of them are ticked. It just says plugin installed, and every time I try to tick them and go through the whole thing again, it ends up not being ticked.
    I checked winamp for the plugin and it's not there.

    Would The last.fm plugin for winamp be incompatible with the new version of winamp?
    It reminds me of some of the problems encountered at the time of each iTunes updates...

  • All if you ticked those once that is fine, just wante to be sure. We tested on latest Winamp 5.541 and latest client 1.5.2 and works fine.

    Anyway if in the Media Library Plugins list you don't have the Audioscrobbler plugin listed, that is the reason why the the client cannot pick the plays from Winamp.

    The question now is why it is not there... :|
    You can place it there manually, (C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins), send me an email at marco@last.fm and i'll send you the file.

    solved my problem by uninstalling tunebite (or so i think). I am not sure why tunebite made me unable to scrobble, but if anyone knows it might be an idea to add something about it in suport topics.

    That same thing is happening to me in August. It's just that it didn't want to play in Winamp but it did in Windows Media Player. Now it has stopped working with WMP too. :(

  • These are the first checks you need to go through to troubleshoot scrobbling issues. If it doesn't help you get abck with more details, though i think that the previous posts more or less are showing all the general tips to fix media players scrobbling issues.

    I've got the same problem, but I don't understand the preceeding posts.

    For example: "First thing go to client help > diagnostic". How do I do that on last.FM? Then there is talk about checking the cache and "ticking." Again, I have no idea how I do these things on the website or in Scrobbler. Would someone care to enlighten me?

    Also, I can experience two audio streams at once when I have Scrobbler on and happen to go to the website. I haven't checked to hear whether I get the same effect with with Scrobbler and some other online music site.

    singularmind: Open the last.fm-client (do so by doubleclicking the (presuambly) red Last.fm-icon in your systemtray). Look at the client.
    In the top-most bar (that is ABOVE the icons) there are a few written words. Click on the one that says "Help"...

    Now follow the rest of the mentioned options in this thread.

    Do you spot incorrect auto-corrections? You can flag them at the artist/track-page.
