iPod not being detected

  • Yeah, just the same problem: Ipod won't be detected by the new Last.FM client

    1) Ipod Video 30G (5.Gen) Firmware: 1.3
    2) Last FM Client: 1.5.0.24910
    3) Itunes 7.6.2.9
    4) Windows XP Pro SP3
    5) iTunes plugin 3.0.0.12

I'll do a rollback to the previous version until this issue is fixed.

    @edit
The rollback to Last.fm-1.4.2.59470 using iTunes plugin 3.0.0.12 worked for me.

    1) iPod video 5G 80 GB, fw 1.3
    2) iTunes 7.6.2.9
    3) Windows XP sp 2
    4) LastFM 1.5.0.24910, iTunes plugin 3.0.0.12

I tried to get back to the previous version of the iTunes plugin (which did work before the upgrade), but it didn't work.
When i reinstalled the current plugin, I had an infobubble saying something like the LastFM client was now ready for my iPod, but it's still not showing in the 'known iPods' list.

So it's back to iSproggler for the time being.

  • No scrobbling at all

After the latest client-update, the LastFM-programme hasn't scrobbled anything from my iPod classic (160Gb)...

    Rollback?

Where can the old install files be downloaded?

Installed the earlier version of the client but it still doesn't do anything. My iPod (4th generation 30GB) doesn't show in the client -> options -> iPod section either.

    new update:

    something worked.

this evening, I synched and updated and nothing once diconnected and itunes closed. boo.

I then visited last.fm to listen to a track...and up they popped. all those since the last scrobble.

    worth a go.

it's a subtle blend of lateral thinking and extreme violence.

I still have kept the previous version of the client on my drive. Everybody who wants to do a rollback, i've uploaded the old client on RS.com: Last.fm-1.4.2.59470

ever since the update, my scrobbling has been pretty sporadic, not completely absent but spontaneous.

i understand that sometimes it takes a while to scrobble... so i've ignored that part..

but earlier this evening i listened to about 5 songs in 1 go... and on updating my ipod last.fm only scrobbled one of them with the pop up window.

thinking that it was scrobbling without the visual confirmation (as had been occurring on occasion since the upgrade) i went to check on the website but only the one song appeared.

I'm pretty sure this problem will eventually solve itself as last.fm issues have in the past for me. I just wanted to check if i was experiencing the same things as other users, guess i was.

  • Reinstalled an older version/ Ipod scrobbing again

I removed the newest update and reinstalled an older version that I founded on the net.
Now my Ipod is scrobbling again
Try it maybe it works for you too
    Let me know!

I tried a dozen different ways to install the new version (directly, install the old version and update after recognizing my ipod, install the old version and update without first recognizing my ipod, and so on...). No known miracle can make the new client add my ipod to the "known ipod" list.

Really sux. At least "cooltonicmusic"'s suggestion worked for me: install the old client and it works fine - despite the annoying "updates are available" every time you load it. Thanks, man!

    1) iPod touch 1.1.4
    2) iTunes 7.6.2.9
    3) Windows XP SP2
    4) Last FM: 1.5.0.24910, iTunes plugin: 3.0.0.12

Last FM recognises my iPod touch (however, it says iphone/odsignoidsnvsdvsoginoidshs), it just doesn't scrobble. I tried to clear user associations and let Last FM recognise it again, but that doesn't seem to work either..

  • 1, iPod 80 GB Classic 1.1.2
    2. iTunes version 7.6.2.9
    3. Windows Vista SP1
    4. iTunes Plugin 3.0.0.12

The client detects the iPod, but no confirmation window with the tracks played (yes I do have the box checked for it). I also tried MegaVortex's solution but no luck. I guess for now I'll go back to using lastPod until this is sorted out.

    1) 30GB Video iPod, software version 1.3.
    2) iTunes 6.7.2 (9)
    3) Mac OS X 10.4.11

An iPod shows up under my "Known iPods" list in the Last.fm software, but it doesn't list my username next to it, and I don't see any way of adding that information.

Basically, when the Last.fm software opens it says things like "From now on Last.fm will scrobble from your iPod" and "Last.fm is ready to scrobble from your iPod," but it doesn't actually ever scrobble anything I listened to on the iPod before connecting it. I've checked on the website just to make sure, and indeed, none of the songs have been showing up.

And dammit, I was so excited when the update became available!! It's been literally several months since I had Last.fm software that actually scrobbled songs from the iPod when I synced, and I still don't understand why that capability was removed during an update late last year... or why it's supposedly been put back in but it doesn't work in the least. Software that only scrobbles songs I listen to at home is almost worse than no software at all.

and to top it off, in my last.fm "options", ipod is recogniseD twice. once as before with my codename attached, and again without my code, and with and "&AAPL0" at the end of the ipod's unique code.

    very odd.

    Yeah same here.

Its not scrobbling, im doing a rollback. thanks for the links guys :)

Well I have a bit different issue here. Every time i connect the iPod to the computer, the confirmation window appears. All the listened tracks are there and always there are the same 42 tracks from the past, up to 5 month back in time. If I scrobble them, they will be successfully submitted. But next time again.

How can I make these 42 track never to appear again?

I had the same problem that many people have, altough my Ipod showed up in the "Known Ipods". I solved the problem simply by checking my password which was wrong for some strange reason. Well when I wrote the right password, Last.Fm suddenly told me that it's ready to scrobble the songs in my Ipod. I really have no idea why the password was wrong but you should check it if you haven't already. Hope this helps you out!
