Fri 22 Jun – Graspop Metal Meeting 2007

I heard a lot of stories of this festival how bad the organisation suck.
So time to find it out myself.
The rules I read on the site and how it is organized what stands on the site let me think that this festival suck indeed.
The biggest stupidity is that you can not come a few days earlier but only get there in the first festival day, stupid fuckers.
When we arrived and get our stuff to the entrance you directly see how everything is arranged and that is not good.
You must wait hours before you are at the entrance and nobody knows where you can exchange your ticket to another ticket and than to a festival thing for your arm.
After more than 3 hours waiting and cursing we were finally on the campground.

    Day 1:

After putting the tent on we headed to the festival ground cause these stupid assholes of the organisation put a band as Thin Lizzy as second playing band of the day, wtf.
But when we get there I hear that they have cancelled.

Zo!

    + De gevarieerde line-up

  • Summer Festivals - Graspop, Metal Camp and Wacken

    2007年 09月 11日 04:39 by Jims101

Have just returned home from a summer spent traveling. First through Europe, then up to Scotland with my folks and finally a week in India.

Of course the Euro leg of the Summer tour wouldn't have been complete without taking in a few festivals and this time around we made it to Graspop Metal Meeting, Metal Camp and of course, Wacken Open Air.

Haven't had a chance to write up Wacken yet, but there's posts and photos for Graspop and Metal Camp up on my site for your viewing pleasure. I could harp on about how awesome both festivals were but I've already done so at the links above so go check em out!

    Personal Brainpuke:

Type O Negative: Sounded like someone was killing a cat, walked away quickly not to destroy my admiration of this band.

Joe Satriani: yup, he the man!

Amorphis: Nice, need to listen to more amorphis.

Blind Guardian: One hell of an Epic performance, sing-a-long bard song! :D

Lamb of God: Walk with me in hell! Insane fucked up pit action, good morning motherfuckers!

Stone Sour: cool, another beer please.

Within Temptation: I just hate comercial metal with clear female vocals. Sucked

Cannibal Corpse: old skool motherfuckers, rule!

Korn: yes, we meet again... wtf? is that joey on the drums? \m/

  • On Last, life, scrobbling failures and Graspop

22:54 by jonanamary

I haven't written a journal for a while so why the hell not? This is going to be a bit disjointed as my thoughts are all over the place today. I might tidy it up a bit later but whatever.

I am probably more bothered than I should be by the fact that my company's new web filter means I can't scrobble from work any more. Aargh. As 90% of my music listening takes place during working hours, this is going to mess up my stats. It's especially annoying as I've recently added rather a lot of stuff to my playlist (Amesoeurs, !T.O.O.H.!, Arcturus, At The Gates, Belphegor, Empyrium etc etc) which isn't showing up. Must be my OCD showing. Also, an overloaded social calendar means my evenings are mostly spent out rather than at home, which is good for my mental health and wellbeing, less good for my bank balance, my waistline and attempts to finish watching Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica. I'm sure this will change later in the month as I run out of money.

OH MY LIFE IS SO HARD (ahem)

Ven. 22 juin – Graspop Metal Meeting 2007

On retrouve toute notre bande…

    Graspop Metal Meeting 2007

    FRIDAY

Fastway: I haven't heard them before, but the performance was not bad => 6/10

Sabaton: A big surprise. Although I haven't heard them before, I had a much of fun and the performance was very good. I will hear them again in October => 8/10

Static X: An unknown band for me, too. But they rocked and my first impression was good => 7/10

Vader: Incredible performance of a very good band => 9/10

Papa Roach: I've heard them before, but I was positively surprised of they performance. Nice work => 8/10

Grave Digger: Heard of them, but they performance couldn't get me rock... => 4/10

Within Temptation: I was in the Queue of the Signing of Blind Guardian (My german friends disappointed me -.-). Then I took signings of Amorphis, which is a great band too. That what I heard of Within Temptation was at least ok => 5/10

Joe Satriani: Great performance of a guitar god, but the gig was too short => 6/10

  • Korpiklaani, Turisas, Eluveitie, Finntroll and Maiden seen live!

Fri 22 Jun – Graspop Metal Meeting 2007
Yeah, Graspop is like a few days ago now, but I'm still thinking of it a lot *HAPPY MEMORIES*. Now that I'm ready with most of my tests of school, I can finally write a review (or something that looks like that^^). Well, here are the top concerts of the festival:

    1. Korpiklaani
Not that I've seen many concerts, but this one was the best EVER! I had never seen them live, so I was really excited. I was standing (jumping, but whatever) in the front and the whole crowd was going crazy! They played Cottages and Saunas, Korpiklaani, Let's Drink, Beer Beer, Wooden Pints, Pellonpekko and HAPPY LITTLE BOOZER. Although the setlist was great, it was too bad they didn't play my favourite song Midsummer Night. Anyway, this was the party of the year! KLAAAANI!

    2. Turisas
These guys looked so cool, just like real warriors! They played a few songs from the new album, To Holmgard and Beyond, Fields of Gold and Miklagard Overture at the end. …

Fri 22 Jun – Graspop Metal Meeting

    FRIDAY

    SABATON
We missed out Sabaton, because they moved it!!! How can you move a band like that..it's just stupid!

    EPICA
Really great show. Some new stuff and a good portion old tracks as well. Only thing that sucked was that they spoke Dutch..very stupid 4/5

    VOLBEAT
Good performance by fellow danes, but a bit too much elvis-metal for me. 3/5

    WITHIN TEMPTATION
The usual stuff, which means no Enter material, which really is a shame! Oh yea another band that spoke dutch - just great... 2/5

    PAIN OF SALVATION
Great show, but what's up with that silly guitarist who is so proud of his biceps that he looks like an idiot lol 3/5

    CHRIS CORNELL
Didn't hear more than a few songs, but it was really just as you could expect..more or less as on CD. 3/5

    AEROSMITH
Before going to the festival I looked forward to seeing Aerosmith, but their show was just exceptional. Mr. Tyler rocks! 5/5

Fri 22 Jun – Graspop Metal Meeting

    VRIJDAG

Sabaton: Death in the shape of a PANZER BATTALION!
